What is Twitter Verification Phishing?

Twitter’s ongoing verification chaos which indicates that the user has to pay for the blue tick on the platform, cybercriminals are at play and are targeting the users with emails posing as Twitter Help Page. The mail is sent from a Gmail account and it tries to attract users into publishing their username and password on an attacker’s website. The mail contains a Google Doc and a link to the Google site. The relatively safe page is an integrated frame from the other site stored on the Russian web host Beget. The page asks for the user’s Twitter handle, password, and phone number, information enough to compromise the security of the accounts. After the whole cybersecurity threat was brought into the limelight, a Google spokesperson said, “Confirming we have taken down the links and accounts in question for violations of our program policies.” So far, Twitter has not made any announcement regarding its new verification policies.
